Channel Talker CT-DBY By
Vancura Innovations
Dual 8 AES DOLBY 5.1 & 7.1 format Tone Generator
-
Professional
Digital Audio Test Equipment – The CTD-DBY makes it possible for one person to setup or verify the DOLBY® AES/EBU digital audio channels in his facility – easily, quickly, and accurately. The unit produces a hands-free audible sequential voice ID for each channel, eliminating the need for external generators or extra personnel to switch between sources. In addition to the voice ID’s, the CTD-DBY includes AUX channel tones allowing both narrow and wide band frequency response testing, and for spectrum analyzers, a pink noise generator is included. Finally, there is a modified sine wave output that can be monitored at the audio system output to verify that there has not been an audio phase reversal in the system. Audio phasing or polarity can be verified either visually (oscilloscope or hand-held video scope) or with an approved polarity detector (CL-1 Channel Listener). Channel Talker Specifications:
Dual DOLBY
Tone Channel sets: Digitally generated, exactly -20dBFS (or -18dBFS), 100 Hz on the LFE channel, and 1000 Hz tone
on the other channels. Sequential voice
markers on all channels (8 digital streams), 19-Bit resolution, and 20-bit
compatible. Outputs are AES/EBU compatible (75 Ohm BNC). AUX
Channel: Digital stream output with 3 selectable tones (4
tones on -C model includes Step-6 ), Step-12, Pink Noise, and Polarity. Identical information is on both
channels. Output is AES/EBU compatible (75 Ohm BNC). Step-6:
Six stepped tones: 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, and 4000Hz. Duration 500ms each
continuously repeating. Output level exactly -20 dBFS
(or -18dBFS)
with 19-bit resolution and
20-bit compatible. Step-12:
Twelve stepped tones: 25, 50, 75, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000,
12000, and 15000Hz. Duration 1000ms (or 500ms) each continuously repeating. Output
level is exactly -20 dBFS with
19-bit resolution and 20-bit compatible. PINK Noise:
Pink noise wave file. Output level is -20 dBFS
(or -18dBFS)
average,
16-bit resolution, and 20-bit compatible. Repeat rate 2.73sec. Polarity:
600Hz, exactly -20dBFS
(or -18dBFS), digitally generated tone modified so that the negative
half of every fourth sine wave is truncated to -50% for identification. DAR
Output: One Digital Audio Reference output (DAR). Audio
output Left and Right = 0.00 volts (minus infinity db – dead silence). Class 1
reference signal. DAR/Color Black Input: Locks to
external DAR reference 48Khz data stream, or standard house reference
Color Black analog video. Channel ID: Sequential voice channel ID overlay on all channels for ease of identification. Natural voice wav file.
