- Northwest Herald, The (Crystal Lake, IL) - October 11, 2005 - October 11, 2005 - Raymond T. Visk, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at his home in Crystal Lake.
He was born March 7, 1927, in Chicago, to Frank and Bessie ( Mlnarik ) Visk. He married Nancy Turner on May 14, 1955, in Chicago.
He was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Father McCormick Council 3880. He was actively involved in the Heraldry Guard Marching Band and was known as "Colonel Hoagie." He was a past Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 127 at St. Thomas Church and was a volunteer cook for the St. Thomas Keenager Club.
His hobbies included woodcarving, silk-screening, and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stephen (Marianne) of Island Lake, Paul (Patricia) of Belleville and Lawrence (Bianca) of Salem, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Amanda (William) Johnson, Steffen, Jennifer, Michael, Lawrence Scott Jr., Matthew, Tabitha, and Chelsea; a great-grandson, Parker Johnson; a brother, George (Lois); and two sisters, Jeanne (Frank) Gilligan and Rita Steinbach.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Robert Visk; a brother-in-law, John Steinbach; and a sister-in-law, Kelly Visk.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 W. Route 14, Crystal Lake. The visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, until the funeral Mass is celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
