55	Northwest Herald, The (Crystal Lake, IL) - October 11, 2005 - October 11, 2005 - Raymond T. Visk, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at his home in Crystal Lake. He was born March 7, 1927, in Chicago, to Frank and Bessie ( Mlnarik ) Visk. He married Nancy Turner on May 14, 1955, in Chicago. He was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Father McCormick Council 3880. He was actively involved in the Heraldry Guard Marching Band and was known as "Colonel Hoagie." He was a past Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 127 at St. Thomas Church and was a volunteer cook for the St. Thomas Keenager Club. His hobbies included woodcarving, silk-screening, and playing cards. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stephen (Marianne) of Island Lake, Paul (Patricia) of Belleville and Lawrence (Bianca) of Salem, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Amanda (William) Johnson, Steffen, Jennifer, Michael, Lawrence Scott Jr., Matthew, Tabitha, and Chelsea; a great-grandson, Parker Johnson; a brother, George (Lois); and two sisters, Jeanne (Frank) Gilligan and Rita Steinbach. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Robert Visk; a brother-in-law, John Steinbach; and a sister-in-law, Kelly Visk. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 W. Route 14, Crystal Lake. The visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, until the funeral Mass is celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Mr. Daniel Gill, an old and well known citizen, died at his residence at 1:10 o'clock this morning, after an illness of two years. His age was 74 years and 6 months. For forty-three years he was engaged in business as a victualler on Moulton street. He was one of the original members of Maine Lodge, I. O. O. F., a member of the Ages Brotherhood and a communicant at Casco street church. He was a man upright in all his dealings and was respected by all who knew him. He leaves two sons, William L. L. and George, the latter a member of the police force. 64	ROBERT C. BLUE Mr. Robert C. Blue, age 87, of 209 E. Nelson Ave., DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died early Friday morning, Jan. 28, 2000. Mr. Blue was a resident and businessman of DeFuniak Springs since 1946. He owned and operated Blue Motor and Equipment Company, an automobile truck and tractor dealership, for many years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Mae Bean Blue. Mr. Blue is survived by one brother, C.V. Blue of Crestview, Fla.; three sisters: Gladys Tolson and Evelyn Gershon of Pensacola, Fla., and Vera Kelly of California; two sons, Rob Blue and wife Susan and Bill Blue and wife Betty; four grandchildren: Bonnie Blue of Houston, Texas, Jill Blue of Tallahassee, Fla., Robbie Blue of Panama City, Fla., and Erin Blue of Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at First United Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs with the Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Robert C. Blue to the First United Methodist Church or to a charity of their choice. 68	The marriage of Henry Vose and Elizabeth Badcock was probably the first one perfdormed by a clergyman in New England. Judge Sewall of Boston, in his Diary thus describes the event: "1686, Tuesday, May 18. A great wedding from Milton, and are married by Mr. Randolph's chaplain (Rev. Ratcliffe who had arrived in Boston on May 13, 1686 from England, the first minister of the English church commissioned to officiate on New England soil. Previous to this, all marriages had been performed by magistrates or some person especially appointed for the purpose.
